Austin Straubel International Airport
Green Bay, Wisconsin
Version 4.0 For Microsoft Flight Simulator 98 For Windows 95
By Michael Pickney

This is an adaptation of my third version of my favorite destination airport, the gateway to Packerland. This all new, greatly improved version of Austin Straubel Field was built using the actual geographic coordinates of the airport's facilities and runways. It was compiled using Airport Version 2.02. It is accurate in the placement of every runway, taxiway, building, and tree!. At night the runways and taxiways are well lit for ease of navigation. Takeoff from runway 06 and the City of Green Bay will be just in front of you. See if you can spot Lambeau Field. It's right where it is supposed to be. I hope that you enjoy this new version as much as I do. Enjoy your flight to the land of the Cheeseheads!

Installation:

This scenery requires the Airport 2.02 Texture Files! If you don't have them, download them and unzip them into your FS 98 Texture folder.

Then...

1. You will have already unzipped GRB_40.zip into a temporary directory.
2. Copy the Green Bay folder to your Flight Simulator 98 Scenery folder.

Then...

In Flight Simulator 98:

1. From the World pull down menu click on Scenery Library.
2. You will see a screen that say's "If you are not sure how to use blah, blah, blah". Click OK.
3. On the Scenery Library screen click the Files... button.
4. On the Scenery Areas screen click the Add... button.
5. On the Add Scenery Area screen you will enter the Scenery Area Path for the new scenery area. Type it exactly as it is shown here:

=:\=\Scenery\Green Bay\SCENERY\*.BGL

6. Enter the Scenery Area Title: Green Bay, WI.
7. Set the Scenery Area Type to Local.
8. Click the Scenery Area Active button.
9. Set the Scenery Area Layer to 0001.
10. Click on the OK buttons until you are back to your main Flight Simulator screen.
11. You are now ready to go flying in Packerland!

How To Get To The Airport:

Use the World pull down menu, then select Go To, and then the Airport menu to find the Go To Airport menu. From here there are two ways to get to the airport.

Option #1:

1. Click the Search places button.
2. In the Type airport name or select from the list dialogue box type Austin Straubel International.
3. In the Runway pull down menu select the runway you wish to start from.
4. Click the OK button and you are there!

Option #2:

1. Click the Scenery from 6.0 and before button.
2. In the Scenery areas box click on Green Bay, WI.
3. In the Search results list box click on you preferred starting location.
4. Click the OK button and you are there.

Note: By selecting Option #2 you will have the added option of starting from Northwest Airlines Gate #7. Also, upon selection of a runway as a starting point, your runway alignment will be a little bit better.

Additional Notes:

If you are planning to use BAO Flight Shop to create adventures for flying out of Green Bay's Austin Straubel Field I would recommend that you make the following change to its Airports Database:

Lat: N-44-29-28.9450
Lon: W-088-07-43.3670
Elev: 695' ASL

These changes will position you at the main terminal building when you begin your adventure. It will more realistically simulate the beginning of a real flight.

Runways:

06/24 Length 7,699' Width 150' ILS available on runway 06
12/30 Length 3,198' Width 75'
18/36 Length 8,200' Width 150' ILS available on runway 36

Airport's Elevation in Flight Simulator 98 is 695' ASL

Airport's Magnetic Variance is W-02

Navigational Aids:

Runway 06 ILS Frequency is 109.50
Runway 36 ILS Frequency is 109.90

Austin Straubel's ATIS Frequency is 124.10
Green Bay's VOR is located 5 miles north of the airport. The frequency is 115.50

Austin Straubel's airport identifier is GRB.

This airport add-on was adapted for use with Microsoft Flight Simulator 98 for Windows 95 only. It will not work with previous versions of Microsoft Flight Simulator because of differences in geographic coordinates and elevations.
